China’s Water Intensity Factor Decomposition and Water Usage Decoupling Analysis

As the most populous country in world, China has a great shortage pressure of water resources. With acceleration urbanization, China’s usage different sectors will change significantly next few years. In order to investigate main reasons behind China, Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index (LMDI) model was adopted this paper from 2000 2020 with provincial data. Three effects, including that technology, industrial structure, and regional scale, were analyzed. addition, decoupling effect between economic growth also considered. The results show that: (1) 2020, technological effect, structure scale are −376.54, −89.85 20.66, respectively; (2) technical have greatest impact on primary industry, followed by secondary industry; (3) is greater than provinces; (4) state gradually changes weak strong decoupling. future, key policy recommendations for saving following: innovation efficient reduction optimization can be helpful water-saving future.
